Vancouver 2010 | List of Speakers
“I don’t want to leave the U.S.,” Gina told me, “but I’m not sure what else I can do.”
Sitting at a water front cafe on the shore of Lake Nicaragua seemed like an odd place to have an epiphany. But that’s where it happened. Sadly, if you’re like me, you’re hearing a lot of Americans talk like Gina now.
People who are on the frontlines — entrepreneurs who have risked their own capital, their time, and their energy to create real jobs and opportunities, the business leaders and individual investors trying to navigate very trying times — but who suddenly feel like, in the land for “free” markets, they have targets on their backs.
Even in the midst of the current Euro zone bailout, benefits continue to be doled out left and right by free-spending Washington D.C. bureaucrats. And the issue is not limited to the United States.
What comes next? What does this economic and political climate mean for your investments? How can your investments prosper when it seems the deck is increasingly stacked against you?
There is a lot to discuss on this issue. So much so that we have dedicated an entire Symposium as a platform to explore, discuss, and debate this topic.
We launch this year’s edition of the Symposium with a stellar lineup of speakers, attendees, and investment opportunities on July 19-23, 2010, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Our 2010 speaker line up is by far the strongest we have ever had. Among our star-studded cast of characters, we’ve packed the schedule with award winning analysts and industry experts from 6 continents, unique investment opportunities that you only can find here, networking opportunities with some of the most sophisticated investors on the planet, and decadent evening events that you will remember for a lifetime.
You may recall the Honorable David M. Walker from our highly acclaimed documentary film I.O.U.S.A., and the lightening-strike Q&A session at the 2008 Symposium. Now, the President and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, and former Comptroller General of the United States, will address the general session at the Symposium for the very first time. David will be joining us to bring us up to date on what’s been happening since we finished filming, his departure from the G.A.O., the effort to get a government deficit commission established and hopefully, some dirt on all those closed-door bailout meetings to which he was privy.
John Mauldin, President of Millennium Wave Investments, is a prolific author, highly successful money manager, and editor of the popular Thoughts from the Frontline e-letter. John’s has an astounding ability to cut though the fog of information and give concrete advice for structuring absolute return portfolios. He is primarily involved in private money management, financial services, and investments and research. John is working on a new book, called The End Game, which falls right in line with this year’s theme. Get a seat early when John speaks as the room will packed.
Dr. Marcio Mello is the man many consider responsible for the largest offshore, deepwater oil discovery ever. A veteran of 24 years at PETROBRAS, and now the President of HRT, the leading oil service, petroleum exploration, and environmental company in Latin America, Dr. Mello will show you where next great opportunities lurk. You will not want to miss him.
I am also proud to introduce Dr. Mike West to you for the first time. He is the CEO of BioTime Inc. and Embryome Sciences. This brilliant man is considered by many to be one of the fathers of stem cell research. Dr West will open your eyes to the technological and scientific advancements that will shape the future of science and investment.

If you were lucky enough to hear the keynote address of Dr. Marc Faber at the 2009 Symposium, (Listen to it now) you’ll be pleased to hear that he enjoyed his time so much at the symposium he agreed to come back again. And we are honored and thrilled to have him back. His thought provoking ideas and brilliant analysis made him one of the most successful money managers in Asia, and a fan favorite at the symposium. If you run into him in halls of the event or in our favorite lobby bar, introduce yourself and strike up a conversation-you’ll be glad you did.
Eric Kraus, Moscow-based fund manager will offer a completely unique perspective on international investing, and some opportunities that
you would likely not hear about elsewhere.
As CEO and Director for Equity Research for Fusion IQ, Barry Ritholtz has lots of opinions. He is returning to the Symposium again in 2010 to share them with us. After his general session address during lasts years’ symposium, (Listen to it now) and his fiery comments during the Whiskey Bar panel discussion, he quickly became a crowd favorite. His take on banking, financial markets, macroeconomics, politics, and just about anything else he decides to discuss will have a profound effect on the way you invest in the future.
Returning Vancouver favorite Frank Holmes is the CEO, and CIO of U.S. Global Investors Inc. The Toronto native brings his latest ideas to the podium each year. His specialized knowledge of resourced-based industries, and money management will help you invest in the right companies at the right time. Frank is one one of our highest rated speakers every year. He brings new ideas to every Symposium. Listen to him closely and you will understand why I always invite him back. (Listen now.)
Russian-born Vitaliy Katsenelson is the Director of Research / Portfolio Manager at Investment Management Inc (IMA) in Denver. He is also a well known equity analyst and author. His global perspective, impeccable analysis, and approach to stock evaluation will show you how, where, and when to invest with confidence.
Agora Inc. founder, and author Bill Bonner will again deliver our closing address. His prescient words in both the Daily Reckoning, and his NY Times best-selling books have helped his readers see investing, and economics in a whole light. This symposium is the only event that Bill attends annually. Come to Vancouver and you’ll know why.
The symposium will be hosted by Addison Wiggin. He is the Executive Publisher of Agora Financial, Co-Founder of The Dail
y Reckoning, and Editor of both the all-new Apogee Advisory, and the 5 Minute Forecast. His unique introductions, and entertaining tales of “behind the scenes” activities make him a natural in this role. He’ll also screen a segment of his latest documentary film project, a follow up to his Oscar short-listed film I.O.U.S.A.
We have invited the unpredictable and always controversial Doug Casey to storm the podium once again. You may not always agree with what he has to say but you will be a better investor as a result.
Long-time friend, and the Founder of Global Resource Investments Rick Rule will address the general session, and help you understand how you can make money at this Symposium.
And of course you’ll hear from your favorite Agora Financial Editors and Analysts. Breakthrough Technology Alert’s Patrick Cox will leave the crowd buzzing about technological advancements that will shape the future, and show the world the way out of its economic malaise.
Capital & Crisis and Mayer’s Special Situations’ editor Chris Mayer will examine undervalued investment opportunities that you may have never considered…but should.
Outstanding Investments, and Energy and Scarcity Investor’s Byron King left last years audience clamoring for more. He’ll be back to tell us all about the opportunities he has unearthed in his global research over the past last year. His presentation will be another one not to be missed.
From energy and natural resources, advancing and disruptive technologies, to the ideas and strategies that will anchor the portfolios the future, and fortify your investment strategies in an exploding and volatile global economy…you learn about it all in Vancouver.

We even have a brand-new Master of Ceremonies. Eric Fry, Agora Financial’s Investment Director will add his unique spin to the event. As a professional portfolio manager for more than 10 years, specializing in international investment strategies and short selling, his understanding of markets and investing is stellar. Add in another couple of decades as an analyst and writer, and you understand why we selected him for this role. He’s always insightful, and usually entertaining so we are very excited to welcome him to the podium as our new M.C.

The speeches and festivities will kick off in a few short hours. But that doesn’t mean that you’ll miss out if you couldn’t make it out to Vancouver for this year’s Symposium… Let me explain…
We’ll record each and every main session speech…and we’ll report on every exclusive breakout session.
Then we’ll post the recordings online.
And we’ll send you a CD set so you can listen to the keynote speeches in the comfort of your own living room.
That way you’ll get every single pick and controversial idea uttered on stage.
Sincerely,

Bruce Robertson,
Symposium Director
